Your summary, "based on television ratings, Punk is a replacement level talent. AEW can live with or without him," is absolutely spot on. Punk was supposed to be the guy who was going to lead them to the promised land, and he's been anything but. If he was the needle mover that he thinks he is in his mind, All Out would have taken place at the United Center, with a capactity ranging from 19,700 to 23,000 people. Instead, the PPV with "a million-dollar live gate" was held outside of the city at the NOW Arena, with a capactiy of 10,543.

Both Phil and I were probably just too old and too far gone to celebrate another Summer of Punk 😕

He’s most likely done again, and I’m finding it almost impossible to invest myself in the current talent crop.

Watch?

Absolutely.

Really care?

Not so much.

I suppose this was inevitable. Punk is Punk.

🤷‍♂️

I think Punk is a draw and definitely adds more mainstream value than anyone in AEW, other than Jericho.

Now, is he a “needle mover”? Nope. Is he the reason because there are sellouts on Chicago? Nope.. they were selling out before Punk (although since Punk they moved to United Center for bigger shows)

But the most important question is if Punk is worth the trouble. Right now -and without knowing for sure what really happened- I Don’t think so. This company couldn’t have started without The Elite (and Cody). Losing Cody hurt but in the end there’s the feeling that both needed to move on…. Losing The Elite would mean that there is nothing left of the original idea of the project. I hope everyone can admit their mistakes and try to work together, but if no… Numbers aside, The Elite is more valuable.
