Aw man. Can't we pretend this is good for the sport just a little bit before reality crashes down on us?

I was fully prepared to not say anything but I didn't feel like I saw a single person engaging this honestly.

Fair enough. I did a post for Bloody Elbow focusing on the good (I did acknowledge the obvious uncertainty) but I thought I'd let Ngannou have his day before I start thinking about how impractical it all is. PFL is going the way of Affliction if they keep this up. Love your stuff. Been reading for years.

I don't see how it works at all as a business.

I guess I was trying to be honest here—I'm happy for Francis. I also don't know Francis, so the sun shining on him is kind of a dim light over here.

For me, personally, losing the Jon Jones fight is a bigger bummer than watching him make incrementally more money is a pleasure.

I agree. But I'm invested in Jones as an icon of this shitty sport, so I want to see him secure his position at the top of the pecking order.

Maybe that's not okay considering...who he is. But we wouldn't be here watching this shit if we weren't awful people on some level.
