It's absurd he's probably the best fighter we've seen in MMA thus far, and *still* somehow a what-if story. Imagine what his legacy would've been had he stayed out of trouble. It's a classic tragedy, a great man undone by his own hubris.

Happy to have the full view of Jones, as complicated as brilliant. Good stuff as always.

I oft ponder the incident where JBJ had drunkenly manhandled a dancer at a strip club. The woman described being scared at how easily he could move her around against her will, pulling her down onto his lap, then throwing her over his shoulder, before dropping her onto the bar counter, and open hand slapping her right on the pussy

Reading this reminds me that’s what JBJ fans are. I’d believe he’d retired had I not watched him piss away years to duck Francis. And he’ll piss away more to duck Aspinall. This is known in MMA as The Cejudo Gambit, and when he returns his fans will climb down from that bar counter and let out a billowy queef, because HW will still be a wasteland

I don't see any reason to believe he was "ducking" Ngannou. That's a good fight for him. He's just a fuck up.

Ultimately it’s the UFCs fault for not making the fight. But it’s suspect to ask for boxing money to fight Francis, then fight Gane for UFC money once he’s gone, only to go back to asking for boxing money to fight Aspinall

I used to be in the business of reporting stuff like what a fighter was offered for a fight and who was ducking whom.

I'd be cautious about believing any of it. The source is almost always:

A. UFC, trying to pressure a fighter.

B. The less popular fighter's team trying to pressure the other fighter or UFC to make a fight.

Things being said doesn't mean those things are true.
